Casio Watches: Innovative Designs Through The Ages
Casio Computer Company was founded by Tadao Kashio in April of 1946. Kashio had experience in fabrication engineering and was motivated to develop his own calculators after seeing the first electronic calculator at a Ginza business show in 1949.
By 1954, Casio had introduced a desk sized model of the electronic calculator. Just three years later, Casio Computer Co. gave the world the first small electronic calculator, referred to as model 14-A. In the coming years, Casio expanded from calculators and began producing their now famous Casio watches.
The Casiotron, introduced in 1974, was the first digital watch available to consumers. Through the years, Casio watches have continued to fascinate and impress consumers all over the world. In 1981, Casio watches were available with not just a digital time display, but an integrated calculator as well. The next year, the popularity of Casio watches grew even more with the introduction of a wrist watch that had both a digital and an analog time display.
Just a year later, in 1983, Casio watches saw another innovative model that pushed Casio ahead of the competition. The G-Shock watch was unsurpassed in durability. These watches were waterproof and resistant to almost any type of damage. The wrist watch market had never before seen such a tough and rugged watch.
In 1992, Casio introduced another innovative, multifunctional line of watches designed specifically for divers. These useful watches did much more than simply tell the time. They featured timers and stopwatches and could read the temperature and depth of the water. Two years later, Casio watches were available with built in remotes.
These watches could operate televisions and some stereos. The G-Shock was still an extremely popular watch in 1997, so Casio developed the Baby-G, a smaller G-Shock watch made specifically for females. The next innovative design in Casio watches came the very next year and was designed with outdoor lovers in mind. These watches featured all sorts of useful tools, including a compass, barometer, thermometer, and even an altimeter.
Casio watches with infrared technology were introduced in 1999. These advanced watches could synchronize applications with a standard computer. Today, Casio watches continue to amaze consumers everywhere with their unique integrated designs. From wrist watches with built in music players to an actual digital camera within a watch, Casio watches continue to provide consumers with the most advanced and unique time pieces available.
