Cellulite Myths
As our bodies age, almost everyone can expect to have some cellulite appear on their legs, stomachs or buttocks, as well as other areas. Cellulite is a natural aging process, genetic in make up and hormonal, so don?t be fooled by quick fixes. Here, we will discuss cellulite myths and expose the true facts on cellulite.
Liposuction – Some people believe that liposuction will remove cellulite. Liposuction, a medical procedure that removes body fat, does not remove cellulite. In certain cases, it can make your cellulite appear to be worse, as the liposuction treatment is only getting rid of the fat inside of your skin, not the outside layer where your cellulite lies.
Increasing Water Intake – Many believe that the more water they drink, the less chance their bodies have of producing cellulite. This is simply not true. While some research has been done on certain skin-drying creams to help cellulite sufferers, the intake of too much water may make your cellulite more visible through the natural hydration of your body and body fat.
Cellulite Only Comes With Age – Also false as cellulite is considered a genetic trait so people of all ages can develop cellulite. Looking at the family tree and the amount of cellulite it has on it is a good way to tell if you will develop cellulite.
Only Women Have Cellulite – Men as well as women can develop cellulite. Cellulite in men comes from low levels of the hormone Androgen. Further, it is often hard to easily see cellulite on the legs of men because they don’t generally shave their legs. If they did, you can bet you?d see it there.
Exercise – Everyone should exercise on a weekly basis, but does it decrease cellulite? The answer here is no. Cellulite is hereditary and hormonal in nature so exercising alone will not take away your cellulite. A good exercise and diet plan can keep cellulite manageable if you keep trim – the less fat on your body, the less cellulite will develop. However, if your family is cellulite-full, you can expect to get cellulite on some level.
Diets – A good healthy diet can keep new fat from developing or expanding on your body, but it won’t prevent cellulite. Eating a healthy diet though will prevent fat and keep your cellulite to a minimum.
Weight – If you think only heavy people get cellulite, again you are wrong. Cellulite is genetic and can develop on even the skinniest of legs, arms and bellies. Keeping your body slim and trim is good and healthy but if cellulite is in your genetic make up, you will most likely develop some.
Caffeine – A lot of people think increasing their caffeine intake will reduce cellulite. While caffeine is an ingredient in many cellulite reducing preparations, drinking excessive amounts of caffeine will not reduce your cellulite. Keep a good track of your caffeine intake – too much is not good for any healthy body.
Cellulite Treatments – If you think there are no treatments for cellulite, again you are wrong. Some research has shown that certain cream preparations have been able to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Ask an herbalist which ones their customers recommend. As far as cellulite treatments, some have shown to be effective. Massaging skin by a trained cellulite-removing specialist can have the affect of redistributing the cellulite or making it appear smoother. Wave therapy is another method used in the same manner.
If you have cellulite, chances are it’s due to your genetic make up and your hormones. Do some good research on cellulite or talk to a professional before you invest a lot of money into quick treatments that may not work.
