Common Greetings To Use When Learning Spanish
When you begin to learn to speak Spanish you will want to start with some common greetings. You have to be able to say hello to a person when you meet them. Learning the basic greetings will get you started and help you learn the language in its simplest form because you won’t be worried about word orders or verb agreements.
Greetings are taught in very simple phrases. There is no need to look up additional words since nothing extra is added. When you are learning to speak Spanish the first greeting you will learn is “Hola.” “Hola” is the Spanish word for “Hello”
“Hola” is a word that can be used either casually or formally and is a proper way to greet anyone. When you are saying hello when you answer the telephone it is proper to say “diga” or “bueno.” If you are saying “goodbye” on the phone or in person you would say ” Adi’s”
To say “good day” or “good morning” you say “buenos dias”, and “good night” is “Buenos noches.” If you are greeting someone in the afternoon you would say “buenos tardes.” To ask a person what their name is you would simply say “¿C’mo te llamas?”
After you have mastered these basic greetings you will find that learning Spanish is a breeze, but you will run into some complex terms in later lessons. Some of the other basics that will help you get off to a good start is learning the alphabet, numbers, asking directions, telling time, colors, and body parts.
By learning commonly used everyday words you will learn to speak Spanish more quickly because the words are used regularly. People commonly say hello and good night so you will have plenty of opportunities to practice speaking Spanish.
You will eventually become comfortable with more complex greetings such as, Hello, how are you today?” or Good morning, pleasant day isn’t it”. When you are more advanced you can try asking questions like “What’s up?” or “What’s new?” If you want to ask “How’s it going?” you would simply say “¿Qu’ pasa?”. If you want to say “nice to meet you” you say “mucho gusto.”
Those are just a few of the more intermediate level greetings that you will help you to learn Spanish while getting to know many different people.
In Spain, it’s often a common thing for people to kiss each other on both cheeks when they meet. However, men will usually shake hands. Even though people kiss each other often when they meet, they don’t do it all of the time. For instance, if you were in a business meeting, you would definitely not catch people kissing each other on the cheeks.
