Excellent Fishing Rods For That Perfect Fishing Experience

Modern fishing rods are leaps and bound beyond the cane poles you may never have even seen before. A modern fishing rod will have a reel to ease retrieving a fish which has been hooked.

More sophisticated are spinning rods, which allow the entire shaft of the rod (save for the handle) to move on its axis, allowing the fisher more freedom of movement when reeling in a fish.

A fishing gadget is somewhat similar in design to those primitive cane fishing rods. These gadgets are thick at the handle and taper towards the tip. This design offers stability of handling and flexible movement throughout the entire length of the shaft.

Types of Fishing Rods and Specifications

A typical fishing rod is anywhere between 6 and 16 feet and varies in its ability to handle strain. The length affects the amount of force it can withstand by the fish and in large part decides the suitability of fishing rods for use in angling.

Cane Poles

These are the smallest and simplest kinds of fishing rod. These are rarely, if ever seen in use nowadays. These are made of bamboo or another flexible wood and has a very basic fly line attached.

A cane pole will generally not have a reel or any other kind of device to ease retrieving fish which have been hooked.

Spinning Rods

These are the most popular sort of fishing rod now.  These can be used for light or heavyweight fish but are best for trout, walleye and bass. These can vary in length from 5 to 7 feet .

Spinning poles are common in bass fishing, especially tournament fishing because of their flexibility and strength. They can handle larger and stronger fly lines and suffer less from tangling when uncoiling float lines.

Jigging Rods

These rods are best for the heavy baits and lures used in deep sea fishing and are suitable for fishing even at depths of 200 feet. They are very solidly built and tend to be relatively heavy. Jiggling rods greatest strength is their ability to work unfazed by alternating ocean currents.

Erratic undersea currents are common in some areas, making it important that bait and fly lines be kept in place. Lures on lines which are not heavy enough to stay stable in currents will not stay in place long enough to attract the attention of fish.

These rods are ideal for fish which are typically found near the ocean floor such as cod and halibut.
