About six months ago I decided to pursue my long time desire to learn to speak Italian. In my area it is not all that common to find people that speak Italian. As a youngster I was friends with an Italian family and I was invited to many of their Sunday dinners. I always found the language to be charming.

The course is presented in modules. The first module contains 31 audio tracks that will have you speaking some basic Italian after your first few lessons. You will learn enough words to have a basic conversation very quickly.

The package includes the actual transcripts of the audios and I found that particularly helpful in following along. Each audio is about 25 minutes long which means the full module is about 13 hours of content. The methods used within this content will allow you to absorb and speak Italian quickly. This is a vocabulary recognition tool. I found this very helpful in the beginning. You basically run through a series of words and you learn the words through repetition, and an association with a picture. It is very similar to the flashcards that we used when we were kids.

The software has 1000 words and pictures built into it, but it also allows you to add more words and pictures of your choice. This is a feature I used a lot.

I started to feel very reassured once I began to use the third module which is the MegaAudio™ software. This phase of the course is where I started to feel confident about all I had learned.

The software provides exercises that test and improve your recognition of the spoken words by playing an audio clip of a word in Italian, and then you have to select the photo that is associated with the meaning of the word. Your results are scored so that you always know how far you are progressing.

I found this software to be a lot of fun to use. It is one thing to learn the vocabulary, but to understand it when spoken is what's really important.

This course was designed to take a person from the beginning stages of learning the language, but it also continues to an advanced level. I felt like this increased the value of the program because I wouldn't have to go out and buy a more advanced course as I progressed.

Possibly the most impressive part of this course is the members only forum where you can ask questions and communicate with other students and the Rocket Language online instructors. To me, this forum made the cost of this course a real bargain. If you happen to get stuck on something, you find lots of help in the forum. I was amazed that this feature was included in the price.

Another part of my decision to participate in the Rocket course was the cost. To find a course of this high quality, I expected to spend three to four hundred dollars.
